Hello Evereyone!
We're in countdown mode to the baby's arrival. October 23rd can't come soon enough. The nursery is all set for little Liam and Alex has successfully made the transition to his new room and big boy bed.
Sandy is doing well, but as expected she'll be more comfortable when she's no longer pregnant!
We've been having a great summer with Alex. Last weekend we went out to Lester's Farm Market and Alex got to take in some of the animals on the farm. By the way, Alex feels that a donkey says Ha-Ha in stead of Hee-Haw. Don't try to argue with him :)
Today was also Doors Open in St. John's today and while Sandy had to work, Alex and I went out for the morning. We went to Bowring Park and then went to the Central Fire Station to check it out. As you can see, Alex decided to take the truck out for a spin. At least he was wearing a seatbelt. :)
Anyway, we'll update you all as we get closer to Liam's arrival. A little boy will be stiring soon from his afternoon nap and I have work to do. before he gets up!
Cheers,
Mark
Sandy & Alex
It's been one of those weeks...ugh! Alex came home from Ottawa with a very bad stomach bug that took him most of the week to get over. Mark left for Halifax on Tuesday for work (flew home late Thursday night) leaving us one man down and then we rounded out the week with me getting a bit of the bug Alex had...as I said UGH!
Luckily we had a great time in Ottawa and despite all we seem to be on the mend (aside from our very untidy house...anyone want to send a cleaning service...lol).
I am including a few new pictures and videos here. My Uncle Ches was a god send last weekend with some pharmaceutical advice for us with Alex and was even brave enough to take a sick little boy in the pool who loved it very much. He's been saying Chssssss...Pooool since we got back and showing everyone how he splashed.
Since getting back, despite being sick he's been a trooper and has wanted to be busy when he's felt well enough. He got out on his bike with Pop one day although his wardrobe was not coordinated well that day, he had a good time.
He's also grown into a t-shirt that his Uncle Art proudly gave him when he was born. Very cute!
Baby Liam Nathaniel is very busy in mommy's belly and loves to wiggle around and kick. I am not really sure how such tiny little creatures can be soooo strong already. Wow, although this is our second time around it still amazes us!
We hope the summer is treating everyone well! Take care!
Sandy, Mark, Alexander (eagerly awaiting Liam in October)
We are having a great time. Today is the first day that I am actually hanging out with my guys. Been in conference for the past two days which was good, but it's nice to start the relaxing portion.
We had a good flight up. As usual, Alex made quite the impression on everyone. I think he got the flight attendants' phone numbers. While I was in conference, Alexander and Daddy had a tour of Parliament Hill.
We had a great morning today in the Byward Market and enjoyed lunch there. What a great place. It in and of itself would make you want to move to Ottawa. Alex got a flower from a lady and we picked up some fresh strawberries, cherries, bread and cheese, AND of course in Ottawa some maple syrup.
We are hoping to head back there tomorrow morning. Maybe not a lot of diversity in our trip, but we are enjoying it completely! We've also visited with a friend of mine and another friend of Mark's for suppers. We are going to see my Uncle Ches tomorrow before we head to the airport. So still a few things to do.
See you soon!
Sandy
We are thrilled. Alex is going to have a little brother in October. Our ultrasound went really well yesterday and we got some great pictures of the baby. He is measuring right on for our dates (by this time Alex was measuring a few days ahead), so hopefully he's on track to be a bit smaller than Alex.
Alex is loving the warmer weather and loves it outside!
Last week was a busy one. We had a convocation party for my little sister Emily on Thursday and on Friday we attended my cousins convocation party. On Saturday we had international night which was yummy Chinese and on Sunday I attended a baby shower for a friend from highschool Joanne Small-Hopkins.
We are now counting down to our trip to Ottawa next week. I have a conference and we are piggy backing a mini-family vacation.
Other than that we are looking forward to a visit from Mark's mom in a few weeks and we are hoping to make a trip out to visit his Grandmother this weekend. Man oh man where does the time go.
Hope you are all enjoying the early days of summer. For us we are still waiting for the warm weather. Fingers crossed things are nice in Ottawa.
Cheers!
Sandy, Mark and Alex (...and baby fahey - yet to be named).
Well I sure have been really awful for keeping up with this blog! I apologize but I have been just sooo busy! We have been having so much fun lately though and I wish I had been blogging about it!! We have been going for walks which is the most fun ever because everyone gets so excitied A few days ago Alex and I played "olympics" and he had be so beat out,he can run around and play for hours!!!
Yesterday we made some cookies which everyone of course loved so much!! Sarah spilled her milk all over hers but thats how you want to have cookies anyways :) I have some great pictures from that!!
Today finally I got some good alone time with Alex ,as soon as both girls were asleep I jumped up and said "CRAFT TIME!!" we usually get to do a lot of crafts but lately things haven't been working out for us so I was so excited today as was Alex :) We made pipe cleaner "who's" (from the grinch movie) but Alex decided to call his guys "Dorthias" ,it was so much fun!!
When we were done Alex asked if he could watch backyardigans we sat down to watch tv when the phone rang and it was Deanna telling me all the fun things she bought yesterday which included an M & M brownie mix!! They sounded too good to wait so I asked Alex "Want to go baking??' His response " OH BOY THANK YOU THANK YOU" He never gave another look to the backyardigans after that :) We had a blast making the brownies as you can see :)
More blogs to come soon, I promise :)
Sarah and Samantha are turning into quite the little copy cats and its so great :) I am trying to teach them so much and I love seeing signs that it is paying off,of course I am not the only one teaching them so I can't actually take credit but I can still enjoy it :) Whenever I leave or enter the room I always wave to the girls and the other day I walked into the living and didn't wave and Sarah waved to me!! It made my day :) I am trying to get Samantha to point to her nose when I say "wheres your nose??" and its so cute because anytime I say it she points to her mouth!! As she does it she laughs and laughs so maybe she is trying to be funny :)
So being the wonderful nanny that I am just the other day when I changed everyone at the same time I had forgotten to put a diaper on Samantha!! Of course I never did realize this until Deanna called me laughing her head off at me!!! I can't believe how silly it was!! I was really expecting to be teased pretty bad the next morning when I arrived at their house, but Joe didn't have anything to say....And then I look at Samantha laying on the floor with a diaper on the outside of her clothes!!!!!!!! I am so glad that Deanna and Joe are great people and find this funny and weren't mad at me lol I am always going to have to double check the diaper situation from now on to make sure it doesn't happen again :)
Time certainly is flying. We are into May. I am just about 4 months pregnant and Alex is certainly becoming our little man (not a baby anymore). He just cracks us up. Just this week he was in the lineup at the store with Pop and looked at the fella' behind him holding a coffee and asked "Double...Double?" Needless to say the frustrated crowd in the long slow moving line nearly fell over laughing at this little curious 16 month old.
We finally got a good recording of the baby's heartbeat which I am posting here. Up until now it would alway register, but we couldn't hear it clearly enough.
We are still guessing whether it is a boy or girl. Mark thinks girl I think boy (but I don't think either of us is really convinced with our instinct). We have our big ultrasound on the 28th of May (just a little over 3 weeks time) so hopefully we'll be able to get an idea then. We are just hoping for a healthy strong little one (hopefully not quite as big as Alex).
In other news, Mark's grandmother is visiting and Alex is having a ball with her. All we have heard for the last 36 hours is Nanna...we went to Walmart last night and everytime she went out of sight he would holler out. I think there is mutual affection there for sure!
That's all for now. Hope all is well with everyone!
Sandy
The girls are getting sooooo cute! They are playing with each other so much now and it looks like they are doing cute things like playing games and having tea parties! They even "talk" to each other! They are going to be so close when they are older,I can tell already!! Today Sam did the cutest thing, her and Sarah were sat close to each other and Sam got up,waddled over and gave Sarah a hug and a kiss!! It was so cute! Sarah didn't like it much as she shoved Sam away, but maybe she just thought Sam was trying to steal her pacifier and not give her a hug instead!
I think it would be easier to list all the things we didn't do today then to list what we did!!! Today was such a busy super fun day!
The morning started off with a story party for teddy bears and then Alex and I did some activities in this little preschool activity book that I gave him for easter, even though they are meant for an older age group Alex does so well with them,I had to modify them a little though, in one activity he was supposed to mark the people facing forward with an X and the people who were backwards with a line, well to make things easier I had Alex color the forward ones red and the backwards ones green, it was so cute! He looked at me and said "I see their faces so I color them red!"
The activities lead to coloring in his dinosaur book which lead to us playing dinosaur games on his leap pad!! While we were doing this the girls just played around us and Sarah went into the little house her grandparents gave her and Samantha for their birthday and she just played away all by herself laughing every so often,it was adorable :)
It didn't seem like we were playing for very long but it was lunch time before we knew it! The morning must have tired everyone out because Alex looked at me and said "Look at me,don't I look tired??" So everyone was off for a nap! Which gave me time to clean up (not that it would last very long!! lol) After naps I got everyone ready and we went for a walk! It seemed like a good idea at first because it was so nice and warm out! Well the weather changed rather quickly and it got windy and no one liked that much so I had to get everyone home as fast as I could ,so I had Alex in my arms and pushed the girls along as fast as I good! What a workout!! I will be a size 2 in no time with these kids!
When we got home we had Shreddies for a snack which everyone loved, but Sarah loved the most, she ate so well today with everything! Then I popped on Backyardigans so we could all just laze around! Well no matter how tiring of a day Samantha never wants to just relax! So I played with her and it was the best part of my day! I tickled her and she loved it,she was roaring with laughter and it never got old at all! I think I could have stayed there all night and she would still be laughing!! It was the perfect ending to another perfect day :)
